En 1972, Melinda Blauvelt s’est rendue dans le petit village de pêcheurs acadien de Brantville, au Nouveau-Brunswick, sur la côte est du Canada. Elle a vécu avec un pêcheur et sa famille, a dirigé un camp de jour et a fait une série de portraits remarquables et compatissants de la communauté acadienne cet été-là et lors de trois visites subséquentes de 1972 à 1974. Ses photographies sont maintenant publiées en série pour la première fois.
