C'est un travail au long cours que présente ici Guillaume Herbaut: 20 ans de reportage en Ukraine, pour lequel il a reçu le prestigieux prix World Press Photo.

G. Herbaut a assisté à l'extraordinaire évolution de ce pays, depuis la Révolution Orange et celle de Maïdan, en passant par l'annexion de la Crimée et la guerre dans le Donbass depuis 2014, jusqu'à l'invasion russe. Il témoigne surtout de la formidable résistance d'un peuple qui se bat pour sa liberté. Son oeuvre traduit une intimité façonnée par ses très nombreuses rencontres, dont il a précieusement gardé la trace dans un carnet de route tenu au fil des années. Ce magnifique travail d'auteur permet d'éclairer les racines d'un conflit, fruit de la folie hégémonique de Vladimir Poutine.

Dans son introduction, Galia Ackerman, historienne, journaliste et essayiste spécialiste de l'Ukraine, offre une mise en perspective du travail de Guillaume Herbaut et démonte avec fermeté les mensonges de la propagande russe.
