C'est de cette terre que je veux témoigner, au plus vite désormais, de ces vies intérieures ténues, de leurs bosses, de leurs creux, de leur espoir aussi, ces vies qui s'effacent sans être remplacées, et avec elles des pans entiers de cette civilisation de montagne, entraînant dans sa chute des modifications culturelles, sociales et anthropologiques irréversibles. »

Bernard Cantié arpente son village corse Pruno et nous raconte son passé à travers des photographies en noir et blanc, témoins d'un instant figé, témoins d'autant de silence que de visages.

Habité par ses fantômes et par les vies qui demeurent, ce village plein de nostalgie nous est conté par Bernard Cantié et une nouvelle de Marie Ferranti, fameuse autrice saint-florentine, "Les trois cousines" (traduit vers le corse par Mrylène Santucci).

Il compose ainsi son histoire avec images et littérature, rendant hommage à une terre fertile, Aujourd'hui envahie par les ronces, dans une quête de mémoire.
