Not Collected est un aperçu des communautés locales autour de Johannesburg, en Afrique du Sud, juste avant la fin de l'apartheid. Ces archives rares ont été trouvées dans le quartier de Jeppestown par Audrey Salmon et Lukas Birk sur les étagères arrière de la boutique d'encadrement et d'affiches de Ravi Lalla. Cet établissement autrefois important était une pierre angulaire du quartier, et les histoires de Ravi couvrent quatre décennies. Ravi avait l'habitude de développer, d'agrandir et d'encadrer des images prises par des travailleurs dont l'emploi se trouvait à Jeppestown. Après la fin de l'apartheid, les mouvements des gens ont changé et certains ne sont jamais retournés là où ils travaillaient. De nombreux clients de Ravi n'ont pas récupéré leurs images. Pendant 30 ans, Ravi a conservé ces images dans une boîte "au cas où"...
Parmi les nombreuses boîtes d'affiches et les innombrables cadres, les artistes Lukas Birk et Audrey Salmon ont découvert une pile de photos oubliées prises dans les townships entre 1985 et 1999. Les artistes ont sélectionné ici ces images de la vie quotidienne rassemblant des portraits, des personnes au travail, des moments familiaux et des cérémonies remplies de fierté et de joie indépendamment du contexte politique.
