Sasanami est le résultat d’un dialogue initié par IIKKI entre l’artiste Masao Yamamoto, photographe japonais vivant à Yatsugakate Nanroku dans la préfecture de Yamanashi, et le musicien japonais Akira Uchida, compositeur et multi-musicien (saxophone, piano, clavichord, jouets, …). Le projet se regarde ou s'écoute, ensemble ou séparément. Le beau livre est imprimé en quadrichromie, offset HR-UV trame fine 240, sur papier Munken Lynx Arctic Paper. La couverture imprimée également en quadrichromie est pelliculée grain de pierre, avec embossage sur les plats 1 et 4 et sur le dos.

Masao Yamamoto est photographe depuis l’âge de 16 ans. Il a également étudié la peinture, mais privilégiera plus tard la photographie argentique. Après une exposition solo en 1996 à la Yancey Richardson Gallery à New York, il se fait connaître en Europe à partir de 2006. Il expose en galerie et en musée au Japon, aux U.S.A. et en Europe, mais également à Moscou et à Sao Paolo. Des articles de presse sont publiés sur son travail dans des magazines d’art majeurs comme NY Times. Son art de plasticien brouille les frontières entre la peinture et la photographie, en jouant avec des natures mortes, nus et paysages en petit format dont il change les couleurs et les tons avec différentes techniques.
