Le livre de photos Liebes Leben (Love Life) de Roswitha Hecke sur l'artiste-muse et prostituée zurichoise Irène, également appelée "Lady Shiva", a été publié pour la première fois en 1978. Il est devenu à la fois un livre culte et un succès international. Réédité à de nombreuses reprises et traduit en plusieurs langues, il est enfin à nouveau disponible. Le deuxième et nouvelle édition publié par les éditions Patrick Frey présente des photos inédites. C'est par l'intermédiaire du réalisateur Werner Schroeter que Roswitha Hecke a rencontré Irène. Irène, alors vedette secrète de la Bohème de Zurich, a travaillé comme prostituée jusqu'à sa mort tragique et accidentelle. Pendant trois semaines, Hecke a photographié son quotidien à Zurich et l'a accompagnée à Rome où Irène célébrait toujours son anniversaire. Le résultat est le portrait subtil et fort d'une femme, à la fois belle et sûre d'elle, d'un érotisme sans égal et d'une élégance fière. Les photos, un mélange de travail chorégraphique et documentaire, capturent une immédiateté et une présence inhabituelles.
