Avec son approche unique de la photographie et des arts multimédias, Jackie Mulder remet en question la perception du spectateur et explore les limites du médium. Son livre Thought Trails, propose un récit visuel entre le passé et le présent.

Le travail de Jackie Mulder commence toujours par une photographie qu'elle réalise elle-même ou par une stratification complexe de photos. Elle transfère ensuite les images sur différentes surfaces, en utilisant des techniques manuelles qui demandent beaucoup de travail. Ces images sont déconstruites et reconstruites à l'aide de cire d'abeille, de broderies et de dessins. L'approche par couches successives donne lieu à des récits non linéaires, tandis que l'espace entre les couches crée un écho visuel. En tournant les pages, le spectateur est invité à entrer dans un monde différent et à créer sa propre histoire.

"J'espère que mon travail suscite à la fois émerveillement et rêverie. Je veux encourager les gens à se laisser porter par lui, à laisser libre cours à leurs pensées et à se laisser surprendre. La nature occupe une place et un rôle de plus en plus importants dans mon univers visuel, à travers des éléments botaniques, des objets et des textures. C'est une réflexion sur les modes de vie contemporains : nous essayons de faire taire la profondeur de nos propres pensées et de combler le vide avec des appareils et des artifices. La nature devient un lieu idéal pour se perdre et suivre de nouvelles pistes - ou en créer de nouvelles - qui vous guident vers la guérison."
